Creative careers can be challenging to build a sustainable living from. Creative fields like music, art, and craftsmanship are unfortunately much harder to capitalize on than technology-driven creative jobs. We want to help creatives by opening the doors of the Lifely studio to them.

The idea in short is simple. We rent our Lifely studio 24/7, yet use it less than 8 hours a day. Let’s give away our amazing studio space during the night and on weekends, free of charge. Because even though it’s a bit silly, having a “high status” location on the Prinsengracht can greatly legitimize an artist's work. And if we can boost someone’s creative career without hindering our operations, that would be amazing.

Events should be held mostly in the cafe area of our studio space. Lifely will provide coffee, thee, and drinks for all visitors. We do not have a liquor license, handing out beers and wine is therefore the responsibility of the creative in residence. We will furthermore provide a cleaning service of the studio the day after events.

In return we expect the studio space to be treated with the utmost respect it deserves. That Lifely can continue to use our space without any hindrance during work days and that Creatives in Residence uphold the same moral code and standards as we do. We do not expect any financial compensation. We do however expect the artist in residence to represent Lifely, what we do, and what we stand for when our team is not present.

We’re open for:

A creative in residence every quarter.

The rough goal is to have a new artist in residence every quarter for about two to four weeks.

The budget per artist in residence is 600,- for cleaning services, drinks etc.
