Why an AI department at Lifely? It helps to look at the different stages of technology adoption in order to understand why Lifely has chosen to invest in building an AI department.

At what stage should we serve our clients?

As a potential client of Lifely, it would not be wise to outsource your research budget during the Innovation stage of technology. Agencies are relatively costly and during the innovation stage, there is a lot of uncertainty about the new technology. Experimenting with these new technologies allows you to gain an advantage over your competitors and should therefore not be outsourced to an agency like Lifely.

As all companies are in part a technology company, technology that is at the late majority stage should be mostly done by teams at the client. The technology should have matured to a point where there is little uncertainty and companies are able to easily build up internal capabilities. Companies that are late adopters often do not face challenges necessary rooted in technology or design. Their challenges are most often due to challenges in their culture, lack of investment capacity, and their inability to connect to the right talent. Agency servicing Late majority or even Laggards stage adoption companies require as much change management as it requires product development.

Early adopters and early majority.

So it’s the second and third stages where agencies like Lifely generally find the best match with new clients. The technology is no longer unproven, yet most clients have not yet had the opportunity to build internal teams. They are looking for someone to guide them and learn from.

It’s our assumption that product development and design are moving towards the Late Majority phase. That does not mean there is a decline in demand. That means the demand is coming from a different type of company than three years ago. It’s a type of client we’re not that well equipped to help and should perhaps steer clear from.

AI is right on the edge between the Innovation phase and the Early Adopter phase. It allows us to connect with new types of clients whilst reinvigorating the product development services. The goal is to be able to work on more exiting project for all department trough our AI proposition.

During our research, we have chosen to focus on the following two sub-services within AI.
