This policy outlines the priorities for non-billable work and serves as a guide for the team to manage their time effectively and continue their professional development while contributing to the overall success of the company.

If you’re planning is empty, the first step is to contact Lifely’s Traffic Manager. They are responsible for overseeing all possible non-billable work projects. If necessary, TM will coordinate with the competence team leads or the developing info circle to find you the best possible project to work on.

Non-Billable projects should be prioritised following the priority down below.

  1. Performance Deals for Startups and Scale-ups: As a first priority, you should focus on Performance Deals related to startups or scale-ups. Ensure there are groomed backlog items that align with your skills and your current role.
  2. Sponsorship Deals with Partners: If there are no pending Performance Deals, focus on Sponsorship Deals related to our partners. As with Performance Deals, work on backlog items that match your skills and role.
  3. Open Source Contributions: If there are no pending Performance or Sponsorship Deals, we encourage you to contribute to selected open-source libraries or repositories. When selecting an issue or request to work on, remember that your contributions reflect on our company. Therefore, always bring your A-game, and strive to provide meaningful and valuable contributions to the open-source community.
  4. Personal Development Case Studies: You are also encouraged to work on personal development case studies. This can serve as an excellent opportunity to expand your Growth portfolio. Furthermore, feel free to reach out to your Horizon group to see if there is any perspective they can share on how to utilise downtime as optimally as possible.
  5. Lifely-Selected Training or Courses: If you've fulfilled the above responsibilities, you should partake in training or courses selected by the Development Info Circle. These courses are in alignment with Lifely's long-term strategy and will support your career growth.
  6. Employee-Selected Training or Courses: Lastly, if all of the above responsibilities are met, you are allowed to work on training or course material of your choice, provided that they align with your personal development plan. Before embarking on any such training, get approval from your Competence Lead to ensure that your selected training aligns with the long-term strategy of Lifely. If the course or training material involves any costs, it must be pre-approved by the supporting Lifely department.
