Let’s begin by acknowledging that there is a lot of work to be done here. A companies purpose is something that has to be understood throughout the company, yet should differ per level or responsibility. In the past we focused heavily on the tactical level (team) purpose, these days we might have too much focus on our management or high level purpose. This is the first attempt at writing down what could be our purposes throughout the different levels of the company. The goal should be to have an overarching purpose, yet have something specific in it for every level.

2.1 Big hairy audacious goal

We want to be the Agency in the Netherlands that sets an example. We achieve success by fostering those who speed up the transition to a world of good.

What kind of world do you want to live in? Why settle for anything less than utopia. At Lifely we believe that the world has changed, sometimes beyond recognition. And although we are grateful for the generation that we succeseed, following in their footsteps does not provide us with the answers the world needs.

We can sit on the sideline and follow others that set the example. Or we can stand up and experiment. Experiment on what running a small business should look like. Experiment with building a culture where knowledge and commitment trump hierarchy and age. Experiment with models that ensure a win-win outcome. Experiment with a shared distribution of wealth, responsibility and “power”. To go beyond tradition.

Experiment with a culture that is just that, a culture of experimentation, where making mistakes is the norm. Where vulnerability is rewarded, learning comes natural and competence is celebrated.

We are here to figure out how new businesses should operate and behave. And we’re going to do that together, nut just as a team, but with clients who contribute to a future that gets everyone at Lifely exited. And in the spirit of now, we share and opensource our learnings so others may follow our journey.

Purpose, project level.

We work on project that make a positive impact in the world. We define positive impact as:

  1. Furthering consciousness & further access to knowledge.
  2. Accelerating the transition to renewable energy & renewable resources.
  3. Furthering equality in the broadest sense of the word.

Purpose, team level.

  1. We believe in fostering a hierarchy of competency, where the best idea is judged on its merit, not its origin. This will allow each team member to contribute, to help shape whatever they are passionate and knowledgeable about.
