A bi-monthly pulse check of the Lifely team, ensuring everyone is feeling alive about work, and that Management is truly connected to the life source of the company.
A fundamental role of the Council will be to survey the Lifely team on a bi-monthly basis and to ensure that everyone, at every level, is able to voice their opinion. This will essentially enable the Council and Management to measure the pulse of Lifely. In short, we ask people how they feel and what they think.
The questions we use to survey will be in part defined by the Council, and by Management. The Council will lead this collaboration and define the questionnaire, but Management can request to include certain time-sensitive questions that are relevant to the bigger roadmap. In developing these questions, consider the following:
- Use Google Forms (G Suite) as it will enable you to quickly share, collect, and synthesise responses.
- Project Pulse can serve as a means to sensing out what your Core Project could be, but it can also be a means to reviewing your progress during the year or at the end of your term (to measure your own performance). Some months might include a lighter “standard” survey, where others might be more extensive.
- The team is encouraged to submit their answers anonymously and professionally. This is not an opportunity for the team to demonstrate how funny they are, but to clearly communicate what is lacking, what could be better, and voice constructive solutions.
- Consider that there may be questions you want to ask consistently over time (to review possible changes in responses), and others that you will include because they're time sensitive (“Are you happy at Lifely?” vs “How could we have done X better?”)
- Don't ask too much of people (time is precious!).
- Consider the flow and structure of the questions you're asking (don’t jump in with too deep too quick): “yes” or “no” questions, rating mechanics, as well as giving people the freedom to expand on answers are all useful mediums in creating a great survey.
Question examples.
The following questions are just examples you could choose to use and adapt. Please, consider the format of the question of yourselves.
- Why do you like or dislike your job?
- Do you feel that your voice is heard?
- Would you recommend your friends work here?
- Do you get what you need to get your job done?
- Do you feel like you can trust your manager?
- Who at work encourages your development?
- How would you define our culture in a single word?
