Working from home is a big adjustment for most people. It can be a blessing and it can just as easily become a curse. Here are some tips we've found to be helpful:
- Make sure you don't get sucked into work. Plan dedicated breaks in your schedule and adhere to them. Go for walks, do the laundry, do some groceries, or give your pet some love.
- If you feel locked up in your room and need to get out, please use the Studio as an escape.
- Go on holidays! Make sure you break out of your daily routine by spending your holiday hours throughout the year. Ask our Traffic manager to help you find an appropriate moment to take a break if you are unsure of the right timing.
- Make full use of the flexibility of working at home. Go work in your garden, or spend a day working at a colleague's, friend's or family member's place. Feel free to remain flexible in your work rhythm if you're feeling down, just as long as you work your official contract hours in some shape or form.
- The use of headphones during any call is mandatory. This may sound extremely petty, but studies have shown that without headphones the additional lag and noise can cause you to spend 2 to 10 times more mental energy on each call.
An environmentally friendly remote work place
As you settle into your home office, consider the impact of your daily activities on the environment. By adopting eco-friendly practices, you can make a positive difference. Here's a guide to help you embrace environmental stewardship at home:
1**. Conserve Energy:**
- Turn off lights, electronics, and appliances when not in use.
- Use natural light whenever possible and consider energy-efficient LED bulbs.
2**. Unplug Chargers and Electronics:**
- Chargers and electronics consume energy even when not in use. Unplug them when they're fully charged or not needed.
3**. Set Up a Green Workspace:**
- Incorporate indoor plants to improve air quality and create a calming atmosphere.
- Use sustainable, recycled, or upcycled office furniture and supplies.
4**. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle:**
- Minimize paper usage by going digital whenever possible.
- Recycle paper, cardboard, and other recyclables properly. Check your local recycling guidelines.
