If you are reading this page, you might be considering leaving Lifely. And just know that if you choose to do so, we’re excited for your next step and are here to support your career. But in case you are not sure you want to leave Lifely, talking about your challenges with your Lead is the right step. We are here to listen and make the adjustments to recapture your spirit at Lifely.

So what can you ask and discuss with your lead? Here are some questions, but feel free to bring up your own, that are perfectly normal to discuss with us:

Ask to be switched to a different project.

We understand that not all projects are equally exciting for everyone. We do our best to rotate everyone between projects. However if you feel we’ve done an insufficient job, we would love to hear from you. We will do our best to transition you to a project that suits your talents and ambitions better. Let your lead know so they can voice your concern during the Traffic management meeting.

Ask to take on more responsibilities in projects.

You are not the only one that benefits from your growth as a professional. So if we are holding you back, we are sorry! Let your lead or the Lifely confidant know what responsibilities you would like to take on. If you are unsure what your next step is, we’re here to help you figure out the next step in your career at Lifely.

Ask for a sabbatical.

Life is more than Lifely. Just know that exploring life does not have to mean saying goodbye to us immediately and forever. Sabbaticals are here for those who would like to take some time off. You can ask for a sabbatical for any reason, to gain perspective, to figure something out, to work on a project for yourself or take time to explore the world. We’re here when you get back and are excited for your new found insights and stories.

Propose researching and learning new skills.

Technology is moving fast, so having the same skill set and job for the rest of your life is very unlikely. Learning new skills is exciting, and will probably help Lifely as well. So if you’d like to transition to a different role, take on different responsibilities or use new frameworks or methodologies, let your lead know. They will help you set up a personal development plan on how to transition to a role that excites you.

Ask for a salary raise.

Now we strive to offer everyone a market conform salary. But we might fail to recognise your growth or have not adjusted salaries for inflation fast enough. Yes, we should have taken that responsibility proactively, but we’d also really appreciate it if you let us know we’re undervaluing your skills and contribution to Lifely. We know talking about salary might be scary, but it’s really ok. We want you to feel like we’re compensating you fairly and if we’re not it’s ok to let us know we’re not.
