Introduction.
Hi Friends, we’re really excited that you’re here. Just the fact that you’re here reading this document is great. This document is designed to foster participation and inclusion at Lifely. It outlines how we develop a participation council. This council will consist of a small group of employees who help shape and guide the company, who have a level of autonomy to really create change. There’s a lot of moving pieces and we need your help. So without further ado, let’s get in to it.
The Council Purpose:
- You will participate beyond your role and know the intricacies of the company better. You'll be involved in decisions outside of your comfort zone (and that’s a good thing).
- You will strive to break down barriers and connect the team through a shared culture that’s good for everyone at Lifely.
- We will contribute to changing the way business is done (together), creating benefit for people and our planet.
The Council will...
- Survey the concerns that live within the company, and advise Management on how to navigate them - Project Pulse
- Own a core project that you as a group believe will do good for Lifely - The Core Project
- Manage the budgets for education, health, retreats, and team building - Living Lifely Projects
- Define and choose charitable pro bono projects Lifely will take on - Charitable Projects
Council Positions:
After being elected to the Council, the first thing the newly appointed members are responsible for is dividing their roles. The Council member who received the most votes is allowed to appoint themselves, and the other members, the following roles:
- Chair = Spokesperson of the council, responsible for communicating decisions, policy, and feedback to the Lifely team and Management.
- Council trustee = Responsible for handling any (sensitive) feedback from direct messages and surveys (more on this later). They're the “voice of the people” within the council.
- Treasurer = Responsible for overseeing budgets and managing the return on investment/happiness of the budgets, responsible for documenting meetings and taking minutes.
If in the future the number of Council members extends beyond three, it will also be the responsibility of the Council to define additional roles, or to share them.
Council members are expected to work roughly 8-16 hours a month on their duties. 8 hours will be allocated by Traffic management each month. For any additional hours you are expected to work on Council projects during down time or on your own initiative after work hours.
