A Guide to Demonstrating Your Growth with Horizon Group Insights
We understand that growth is a complex, multi-faceted journey that can't be captured solely by task performance or seniority levels. That's why we introduce the concept of a "Growth Portfolio." This portfolio is your opportunity to demonstrate your growth in Awareness, Responsibility, and Connection—our ARC principles. It places the burden of proof of growth squarely on you, the individual. In doing so, we ensure that those who demonstrate tangible growth are rightfully acknowledged.
Leveraging Horizon Group Discussions
An ideal foundation for your Growth Portfolio can be the challenges and discussions you've had in your Horizon Groups. These peer-supported settings are designed for you to openly discuss your goals, achievements, and challenges. Documenting these experiences provides rich material to include in your portfolio, offering a detailed narrative of your growth journey over the year.
Structure of the Growth Portfolio
Although the format of your portfolio can be flexible—reflecting your personal style and growth aspirations—it should generally be structured around the following questions for each ARC category:
Awareness
- What I did differently:
- Outline the changes or actions you've undertaken to enhance your awareness. Whether it's a new approach to problem-solving or a technique to assess the effectiveness of your tasks, detail it here.
- Subjective results:
- Explain the personal or subjective outcomes of your efforts. Did you feel more engaged in your work, or did your change in approach lead to better team dynamics?
- Objective results:
- Enumerate any measurable outcomes resulting from your actions. This could be data points, completion rates, or any other quantifiable indicators that support your growth in awareness.
Responsibility
- What I did differently:
- Describe how you've taken more responsibility, be it in terms of time management, work-life balance, or financial planning.
- Subjective results:
- Discuss the personal benefits you've felt from taking more responsibility. This could be feeling less stressed, more in control, or other subjective measures.
- Objective results:
- Provide hard data or evidence that demonstrates your increased sense of responsibility. Did you complete projects on time, decrease overhead costs, or improve your productivity metrics?
Connection
- What I did differently:
- Explain how you have broadened your connection not just with team members or clients but also with larger trends, inspirations, and innovations in the wider world.
- Subjective results:
- Discuss the internal outcomes of these connections. Do you feel more inspired, more informed, or more resilient as a result?
