<aside> 🏗️ We will continue to update this policy as this crisis unfolds. Please share with us any idea’s or concerns that you might have. Furthermore, if the cost for gas/electricity or opening your home for refugees is too much to bear, please let us know.

Let’s start by saying that at Lifely we condemn any form of violence. Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and we hope this conflict will be  resolved in a peaceful manner, as soon as possible. So what can we do in regards to supporting Ukrainian people fleeing the war in their country?

Do what you can, but stay calm.

These times requires us all to have a warm heart and a cool head. If you’re ready to jump in your car to help refugees relocate, we get it. However, we also encourage you to stay calm and keep a watchful eye on professional organisations that will help us all coordinate this crisis.

For now supporting local initiatives with donating clothing, tools and supplies seems to be the most effective. We encourage you to carefully check what these initiatives actually require before donating what you can. Please share initiatives you’ve found down below:

Lifely will provide jobs to qualified personnel from Ukraine.

We will do what we can to hire remote workers or refugees from Ukraine for all technical open positions. If you have any way of reaching this community, let us know. For now we’ve targeted all our job ads to people from Ukraine in hopes of reaching those who are fleeing the war and need a way to provide an income to support their family.

If you know anyone or want to share our vacancies, please link jobs.lifely.nl.

We will provide support to Lifely team members who take in refugees.

It’s now estimated that Europe will have to take in over 10 million refugees. The truth about that number is that those of us that have a spare room will at some point be asked to temporary help. Now we do not encourage you to do so haphazardly and to think about the responsibility you are about to take upon yourself. If you do consider, perhaps signing up for an organisation like https://takecarebnb.org/en/ is a good first step.

We will provide everyone at Lifely who takes in a refugee from the Ukraine crisis with a 100,- euro IKEA voucher and 100,- euro supermarket voucher. We are also researching the possibility to provide everyone with a small monthly financial compensation for the additional costs. More on this in the coming weeks.

Your mental health.

The crisis in Ukraine is a reminder of our privilege of living in a safe and democratic country. That does not mean you are not allowed to feel whatever you do. We’re coming out of one crisis straight into the next. These are challenging times and we want you to know that it’s ok to feel down, confused or even angry. We’re not mental health professionals, but in the coming month we will increase the amount of check-ins to make sure you have a place to share your thoughts should you want to. Furthermore please feel free to reach out to the Lifely Council or Confidant with your concerns.

We also encourage you to come to the Lifely Studio and talk about these things. It’s ok to share heavy topics with your colleagues and we’re here to find perspective on these challenging times together.
