At Lifely, we believe that a well-structured onboarding process is essential for a successful start in your new job. We want everyone to quickly feel at home, become productive and embrace Lifely culture. This policy outlines the process, and core principles of our onboarding so you’ll know what to expect in your first few weeks.
Your first month at Lifely
Pre-boarding
Before you start your activities, your Lead will send you an onboarding email. In this email you'll find all the information to get you started on your first day, such as setting up your workstation.
We work with Google Suite, so during the onboarding, you'll get a Lifely Google account with an email inbox. There, you'll find several relevant invites to the services we use. Please, set these up as soon as your work commences.
First week: Introduction & Basics
- Your first day will start off with a cup of coffee or tea with your buddy or mentor - and signing the contract if you haven’t done that already. We’ll show you around our lovely Lifely Studio, and you’ll get to meet the lovely people you’ll work with.
- You’ll get onboarded to the relevant tools or platforms you will need.
- Preferably, you'll be scheduled to join one of the projects currently active within Lifely. During this first week, we consider you to be an intern in this project, so you'll have the chance to orient yourself and find your way. You'll carry out (relatively) simple tasks in order to get acquainted with the project and our way of working.
- We’d love to hear your first experience at the end of the week, and Dan will schedule a check-in to do so. Dan will be responsible for ensuring you meet with everyone you need to meet with, and scheduling check-ins and reviews over the next few weeks.
Week 2-4: Integration
- After your first week we’ll pay a little more attention to the context of your work at Lifely. We’ll talk you through our ways of working, what guidelines we adhere to, and what can you expect in terms of Personal Development & team-fun-stuff.
- We’ll schedule weekly check-ins with you, to see how your onboarding is going, and at what rate you’re easing into becoming a productive member of the team.
- Towards the last week of the month (and so probation period) we’ll review and evaluate your first month at Lifely. We’ll assess your performance, and will decide if Lifely is indeed the place for you.
- We will also create space for your review of Lifely! What is working for you, what could be better. We want to hear about your experience and make things better for everyone.
- We know it can feel tricky to be fully open in your first few weeks, so Dan is available for confidential conversations. Sometimes it’s just reassuring to share what’s on your mind without needing to act on it yet. Dan can also, if you wish, raise things on your behalf and help you navigate any early teething troubles.
Note: Meeting your peers
We are a hybrid company, meaning that not everyone will be working from the Lifely Studio all the time. In the first couple of weeks, we'll try to facilitate some opportunities for you to get to know everybody at Lifely. We highly encourage you to work at the Studio during this period. Lots of people will be using the space during that time, so meeting people should be inevitable.
But we'll not just leave it up to chance, so we'll schedule "little chats" during this time as well if needed. We're all very excited to meet you and to get to know you, we hope you are as well.
